A&T Group Interiors, a top interior fit-out contractor, has been making a significant impact in the MENA region’s commercial interior design sector since its founding in 2009. Specializing in premium fit-out and turnkey solutions for restaurants, hotels, retail spaces, offices, and residential projects, the company is known for delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.
In 2024, A&T Group Interiors proudly served as the official fit-out partner for the Commercial Interior Awards 2024: MENA, the region’s largest event recognizing excellence in commercial interior design. This partnership highlights the company’s leadership and commitment to shaping the future of design in the MENA region.
After the success of the CID Awards, Tareq Khalafawi, CEO and co-founder of A&T Group Interiors, shared his thoughts on the interior design market in the MENA region. He highlighted the unique opportunities it offers for creative designs. “The chance to combine diverse cultural elements into innovative concepts excites us the most about the MENA region,” said Tareq. “Dubai, as a major business hub, creates a dynamic environment where innovation thrives and encourages growth in the design industry.”
He also noted the region’s focus on modernization, which provides a strong foundation for fresh and creative ideas. This has driven A&T Group Interiors to deliver projects that blend the region’s cultural heritage with the latest design trends and construction practices.
Reflecting on recent trends, Tareq pointed out several key shifts in the industry. “Sustainability and the use of eco-friendly materials are no longer just trends—they’re essential. With growing awareness of environmental impact, there’s a stronger push for sustainability in interior design,” he explained.
He added that clients are increasingly asking for materials that are eco-friendly, such as recycled or plant-based options, which help reduce environmental footprints while maintaining aesthetic appeal.
On the design front, Tareq mentioned that vintage and nostalgic styles are making a comeback, and there’s a noticeable shift towards maximalist design, which embraces bold colors and rich textures. Biophilic design, which integrates natural elements like plants, water features, and stone, is also growing in popularity as more businesses focus on creating calming, nature-inspired spaces.
As the design landscape evolves, Tareq also highlighted several challenges faced by commercial designers in the region. As hybrid work models continue to shape office environments, designers must rethink how to create spaces that promote employee well-being and productivity.
Another challenge is the rising cost of sustainable materials, which impacts project budgets. Evolving building codes and regulations also require designers to stay updated and ensure compliance. “This requires ongoing learning and professional development,” said Tareq.
The increasing demand for advanced technologies in commercial spaces, such as smart building systems, presents both opportunities and challenges. Integrating these technologies requires careful planning to manage complexity and costs effectively.
In the past year, A&T Group Interiors has successfully completed over 30 projects across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Some of the most notable projects include the fit-out of TATEL and TOTO Restaurants in Downtown Dubai, co-owned by global sports stars Cristiano Ronaldo, Rafael Nadal, and Pau Gasol. Another standout project was LENA Restaurant at St. Regis Garden, The Palm, one of the most beautiful restaurants in the world.
Other significant projects include the Osh Del Mar restaurant and the Italian dining spot Signor Sassi. These achievements have earned A&T Group Interiors a place on the CID Fit-Out Firm Power List 2024, along with several other industry awards and accolades.
Future Plans and Commitment to Innovation
Looking ahead, A&T Group Interiors is focused on adapting to the latest industry trends and continuing its growth. The company is currently working on the fit-out of a major beach club in Dubai and the expansion of a public investment group's head office in Saudi Arabia.
Tareq also emphasized A&T’s commitment to sustainability. “We are continuously exploring new ways to integrate eco-friendly materials into our projects,” he said.
In addition, the company plans to expand its team and offer more training to nurture a diverse and skilled workforce. “Our goal is to improve continuously and deliver high-quality projects. While we look forward to more industry recognition, our focus remains on ensuring positive client feedback and project success,” Tareq concluded.
As the official fit-out partner for the CID Awards 2024: MENA, A&T Group Interiors has proven itself as a leader in the commercial interior design sector and continues to shape the future of design in the MENA region.
